HUA470 Harley Universal Radio Install Kit |
11/09/2012 |
Just installed the universal radio install kit. Used an Alpine head unit. This is a great product that was easy to install. I have a 2011 Harley electra glide police that I changed the fairing wiring interconnect harness and it was plug and play operating my newly changed hand controls. Would highly recommend this kit to anyone. Love the cradle which supports bottom and rear of the head unit unlike other products which just use the side mounting brackets. 5 Stars!!!!!

HSA470 Harley To Sony Radio Install Kit |
07/02/2012 |
Awesome product. Installed a marine soney radio on my 2010 FLTRX in about a hour. Perfect sound quality and have the use of handle bar controls ia great. Only issue was the wires on the adaptor needed to be longer so the adaptor could be mounted better. Not long enough to mount on a flat surface with velcro provided. Had to wire tie adaptor to back of radio mount. Still a great product.

HUA470 Harley Universal Radio Install Kit |
04/30/2012 |
I thought I would take this time to provide a review of the HUA470. I went with Hawg Wired's HUA470, because of their reputation; and I'm very pleased with the PSC3004 amp kit, and GTK150's I purchased earlier. So, on with the review.
The least expensive place I found to purchase the HUA470 was at Dennis Kirk. It was about $50 less there than any other location.
Installation: Directions are pretty straight forward; however, the tabs on the outer case are not quite flush with the waterproof seal. So, you sort of have to play around with it. The next obstacle was installing the screw in the back of the chassis to the radio. With components getting ever smaller, the screw was definitely not long enough to reach. I eventually got it to reach, but had to kinda of bend the metal bracket towards the radio.
Next I moved to the bike (2009 FLHX). One of the things the instructions don't mention is that if you dash has the chrome bezel around the instruments and radio, this this isn't going to fit. You'll need a heat gun to warm up the double-stick tape and pry off the bezel. After that, the radio just slides right in. Connecting it all up was pretty simple and quick.
Test: Turned on the stereo and got the 4-flashing red light indicating that the dip switches were set correctly for my Kenwood KIV-701. All switches work fine, except for the left to gain access to fader, treble, bass, etc. The volume works great, and the right controls work for changing functions. Trouble shooting and instructions could be made a little more clear as not all people installing these are technicians.
Other than that, I finished it and everything works. Here's my setup:
2009 FLHX, Thundervolt plug wires, Zippers Thundermax ECM, V&H 2-into-2 Big Radius Duals:
System: Kenwood KIV-701 Media Player w/Sirius Satellite Radio, Hawg-Wired HUA470 Universal Radio Kit, Hawg-Wired Audio PSC3004 amp, Biketronics Hertz Titan XL speakers (batwing), Hogtunes Tweeter Pod, Kuryakyn 888 Saddlebag Lid Kit (Kickers 6x9).
Still have to tweak the amp, but so far so good.

RS-DCS/ZX Direct Connect RS |
03/29/2012 |
Installed RS-DCS/ZX last night on my 2007 FLHX. Took me about an hour & a half, but I'm slow & picky. Pretty easy install. The only thing I fiddled with were the horizontal braces. Even that only took several minutes to bend enough to clear the speakers. Other than that, it was a breeze. The adapter rings fit perfect into the speaker locations. After install, I listened to my I-pod for the next two hours while cleaning the bike. What a great sound & an amazing improvement over the stock system. I'm absolutely amazed at the clarity & quality of the sound. Much better than I had thought it would be. You get what you pay for, this wasn't the cheapest system I priced, but it was well worth it when I heard the music. I want to thank Justin & Rob at Hawg Wired, they had to endure numerous conversations with me prior to my purchasing the system. They were very helpful with the tech questions I had for the install. I also want to thank Frank Drago at Drago's Bike Works. Best price around for this system. I recommend Hawg Wired to anyone wanting a quality audio system for their Harley.

PSC3004 PSC Series 300W (4x75) Amplifier |
11/23/2011 |
Installed a PSC3004 and a PSC1502 in my 2009 Roadglide b/4 riding season this Year. Got the 'New' ZX 6.5" Components in the stock holes, put the Rockford Fosgate shallow mount coaxials in holes that were cut in the Inner Fairing. PSC3004 is Powering those 4 speakers.
I also put 6X9 saddlebag lids on my saddlebags. PSC1502 is powering those!
Changed my stock Radio to a Sony and used the HUA470 Universal Mount Kit.
Crystal Clear Audiophile Sound!
Unbelievable!
Got 126 db's on a db meter.
HAWG-WIRED ROCKS!
